Vero Beach Guide to Attractions, Places to Stay, Restaurants and Resources

Vero Beach guide to attractions, places to stay, restaurants and local resources - all designed to help you plan and enjoy a better vacation: has info about things to see and do, where to eat and shop and info about hotels, resorts, motels, beaches, boating and golf.

Vero Beach is located on the Atlantic Coast of Florida, just south of Cocoa Beach and offers families an excellent place to vacation.

Welcome to Vero Beach, Florida

Vero Beach is located on Florida's Atlantic coast between Fort Pierce to the south, and The Sebastian Inlet to the north. It's quiet and mostly residential. However, the resort community of Orchid Island is home to Disney's Vero Beach Resort and several other getaways.

Building restrictions and local enforcement codes have tempered developer enthusiasm having forcing them to take their monolithic condominiums elsewhere. The result: a picturesque and relatively unblemished environ that attracts people looking for a slower and smaller, but no less affluent lifestyle than, say, Sarasota.

The Sebastian Inlet State Park and surrounding area is an attractive point to visit. About 15 miles north of Vero Beach on A1A (a beautiful drive), this State Park of about 900 acres serves as a wildlife sanctuary and beach activity paradise for surfing, snorkeling and diving.

Vero Beach - Atlantic Coast Family Favorite

An ideal place to call home for those looking for a combination of undeveloped beaches, affluent neighborhoods and upscale lifestyle.

A few resorts and hotels push up here and there, but the resort community of Orchid Island is a gem and relatively unknown sanctuary.

Restaurants

Bono's Pit Bar-B-Q
For a bit of fun and something unusual but delightful, this authentic southern styled BBQ eatery (well known in Jacksonville) is as much about serving up delicious food as it is about providing a "genuine, down-home" experience: "If you don't see a Pit, it ain't Legit". Order the sweet tea, avoid the turkey. 1500 US 1.

Places to Stay

The Vero Beach Hotel and Spa
With the exception of an onerous 14-day cancellation penalty and forced valet parking, this Oceanfront, totally up to date, well appointed resort hotel with about 100 units (some suites with kitchens available), ad a surprisingly helpful staff is as close to perfect as one would imagine. Impeded or lack of ocean vistas with most room selections can be a disappointment to some. Ample restaurant offerings nearby if you tire of on-site dining. 3500 Ocean Drive

Disney's Vero Beach Resort
This Florida themed resort sits on a beautiful Atlantic beach about 7 miles north of Vero Beach and is surrounded by dunes and sea grass. Laid back and family oriented it is unique by way of the absence of animated characters. 9250 Island Grove Terrace.

Attractions

McLarty Treasure Museum
North on A1A just before Sebastian Inlet, this small museum brings out the treasure hunter in everyone. The unforeseen hurricane that destroyed much of the 1715 Spanish Plate Fleet heading to Spain is represented here in the form of artifacts, treasure, and other salvaged goodies. The museum also gives details and accounts as to what's involved in a modern day salvage operation. For only a buck, you can get those treasure hunting wheels turning inside your head.
